Messenger services operate in major cities, usually for businesses that maintain regular accounts with them. These services have employees who use bicycles, motorcycles or automobiles. They deliver envelopes and small packages on a same-day basis.
Business use messenger services for items that cannot be sent by e-mail or fax and that need to get to their destination (usually in the same city) and be delivered in person on the same day or sometimes even within an hour or less. Many of these items are similar to those sent via overnight express services, legal contracts or blueprints being two prime examples.
