Compact disks (CD’s) are sold in specialty stores, in department and discount stores, and frequently online. CD clubs operate in exactly the same way as book clubs. Public libraries often offer wide selections of musical items for borrowing.
Many observers believe physical music media will soon become obsolete given the growth of electronic media, online downloads, mp3 players and related technologies. Although these technological advances are turning the world of recorded music into a seamless international marketplace, the United States remains the world’s largest producer of entertainment in nearly all media.
