The Great Experiment
Since the early 1950's, television, with much controversy and comment, has taken over American life. Television reflects American culture and it also makes American culture. You can learn a great deal about American life and values by watching television, but television does not tell the whole story. America is a culturally rich nation, and television often misses the mark. The medium has never quite fulfilled its great potential.
