Ethnicity in Films
Hester Street (1975), Moscow on the Hudson (1984) and Streets of Gold (1986) are films which explore the immigrant experience in America. Lady Sings the Blues (1979), The Color Purple (1985) and Do the Right Thing (1989) treat the African-American experience in very different ways. The Godfather series looks at the ever-popular Italian experience. Some other valuable films about American society and values are Blue Collar (1978), The Great Santini (1980), Tender Mercies (1983), and Terms of Endearment (1983).
